Sara's Birthday Fundraiser
55 and 5 years into treatment, living a great life in spite of cancer!
Friends - As I turn 55, I am recognizing the 5 year mark of treatment for Low Grade Serous Carcinoma (LGSC), a rare type of Ovarian Cancer. Though the past five years has been marked by a roller coaster of emotions and managing drug side effects, I assure you that there have been a lot of wonderful times as well. My goal is to live a great life in spite of cancer.
As a rare cancer, research to extend the lives of those with this disease is dramatically underfunded. To that end, for my birthday this year, I am joining with STAAR Ovarian Cancer Foundation to raise funds for ongoing research to fund better treatment options. Each donation will be matched 1:1 up to $2,500 with the goal of raising $5,000.
STAAR is the only US non-profit dedicated to LGSC and it works closely with Cure Our Ovarian Cancer, the leading global non-profit for LGSC, to allocate funds to promising research.
In addition, a $600 donation will kick-off the fundraiser in honor of Jane Ludemann and Cure Our Ovarian Cancer. Jane has organized a world-wide LGSC community and facilitated incredible strides in research, treatment, education and exposure of this disease.
I am grateful to everyone who helps me to live my life in the best way possible, despite cancer.
With oooodles of gratitude!
